Lanzhou Overseas Chinese Experimental School is closely connected to a residential area, with residential buildings approximately 10 stories high located on the west side of the school playground, while the school buildings are around six stories high. The traditional broadcast system was set up around the playground, and during school events, multiple speakers on the playground would broadcast in all directions. This not only disrupted normal teaching but also caused noise pollution in the surrounding community.
 
Moreover, being exposed to a sound field with severe reverberation, asynchronous sound, and poor speech clarity posed potential threats to hearing and mental well-being of both teachers and students. To address the issue of noise disturbances, the school decided to tackle the noise at its source. After extensive research and evaluation, Lanzhou Overseas Chinese Experimental School chose Audfly's outdoor directional sound system.
 
Solution Deployment
Upon understanding the schools needs, Audfly employed professional sound field design and innovative acoustic technology to upgrade the sound environment of the playground. Eight outdoor directional sound systems were strategically placed to ensure effective sound coverage within the playground's central area while minimizing sound spread to the sides and rear of the devices. This setup prevents disruption in adjacent classrooms, eliminates traditional broadcast reverberation and asynchrony, and achieves sound field balance with improved speech clarity and intelligibility. It also effectively resolved the interference of playground broadcast sound with the neighboring residential areas!
 
 
Evaluation of Results
After the project's completion, Audfly conducted on-site visits and assessments. The outdoor directional sound system successfully limited the daytime broadcast sound levels reaching nearby residential areas to 55-60 dB, meeting environmental protection standards. Nearby residents experience a “silent zone,” with almost no audible broadcast from the school playground, while clear, balanced sound coverage is maintained within the playground itself. This solution effectively resolved the noise disturbance issue, significantly enhancing the overall sound environment on campus, earning positive feedback from both school administrators and the surrounding community.
